Coming back to Penrose was like coming home. Being the first state park in WA we visited (and stayed for 5 days), we looked forward to returning! It’s a large park with lots of trails, a great beach, a marina close by, restrooms with showers and a really nice day use area.
We joined our friends Craig, Kathleen and Sue for a few days of camping. They brought 2 inflatable kayaks and one day we took them to Maple Hollow Picnic Area for a round trip of 5-nm. We have been thinking of getting an inflatable kayak for our tender so it was nice to experience them and found them pretty agreeable. One thing obvious from the start, inflatables need a skeg (fin) to make them track a straight line. The red kayak in the photo’s went round and round in circles for lack of one.
The guys took the crab pot out and caught 5 Rock crab the very first day. Can’t beat crab for breakfast & over steak for dinner!
